A Gift She Would Never Give Herself

A bespoke private sound experience, composed live from her story.

A gift she will carry long after the flowers fade.

AS SEEN IN

FOR MOTHER’S DAY

She Gives Everything.
Give Her This.

You already know she won’t spend this on herself.

She’s spent years giving her attention, her energy, her presence — to her family, to her work, to everyone but herself. What she needs isn’t another candle or a gift card she’ll set aside.

Welcome to Under the Piano.

In a private composer’s studio in Vancouver’s West End, Craig Addy creates a live, bespoke musical composition drawn entirely from her story. Not a concert. Not a sound bath. A private, one-on-one encounter with art — designed to make her feel genuinely received.

This is the gift for the woman who gives everything. And the people who see her clearly enough to know it.

HER PRIVATE SESSION

What She’ll Experience

Allow approximately 90 minutes. There is no rush.

1

The Arrival - Threshold

Her session begins the moment she steps through the door. Warm lighting, a welcoming space, and the unhurried feeling that time here belongs entirely to her. Leave the pace of the city at the door.

2

The Conversation - Consultation

A relaxed, personal exchange that shapes the music to come. She shares as much or as little as she wishes — stories, memories, intentions, or simply how she is feeling in this moment. Craig listens not for details, but for essence.

3

The Composition - Immersion

For approximately 40 minutes, she reclines beneath a 6’4″ grand piano on a plush memory-foam mat while Craig composes five to seven original pieces drawn entirely from what she has shared. This is not a playlist or a rehearsed performance. Each composition is created once, for her alone. She feels the music as much as she hears it — the resonance of the instrument moving through the body.

4

The Memento - Her Recording

Within one to three days, she will receive a professionally produced digital recording of the music composed for her — her own personal soundscape, delivered wherever she is. Many guests tell Craig these recordings become a touchstone, a way to return to that stillness long after the session ends.

FOR THE ONES WHO SEE HER

Who Is This Gift From?

Whether you are her partner, her child, or someone who loves her well — this gift says: I know what you need, and I chose it with care.

From Her Partner
She holds the relationship with grace and shows up fully, year after year. This anniversary, this Mother’s Day, give her the rare gift of being completely held — not hosting, not performing, not managing. Just receiving. There is room for two beneath the piano if you’d like to be beside her.

From Her Adult Children
She gave you her time, her patience, and her quiet presence for decades. You know she’ll say she doesn’t need anything. This is the gift for the mother who means it — something she would never choose for herself, from someone who knows her well enough to choose it for her.

From Herself
Sometimes the most powerful gift is permission. Permission to arrive somewhere beautiful, to be still, and to let someone create something just for her. If you know a woman who has been carrying a great deal — this is where she sets it down.

(Note for Visitors: While this page is designed for our local community, we also offer a specialized West Coast Visitor Experience for discerning travellers and cruise passengers looking for a private Vancouver shore excursion.)

THE GIFT THAT CONTINUES

Music That Carries Long After the Last Note

Her Under the Piano session doesn’t end when she leaves the studio.

Within one to three days, she will receive a professionally produced digital recording of the music composed for her. This is her personal soundscape — music that exists nowhere else in the world.

Many guests tell us they return to these recordings during difficult moments, quiet evenings, or simply when they need to remember what it feels like to be completely at peace.

You are not giving her an afternoon.

You are giving her something she can return to, for years.

    Description

Give Her Something She Would Never Give Herself.

Some gifts mark a moment. This one becomes a memory she carries long after the flowers fade.

Under the Piano is a private, one-on-one encounter with a composer. Craig Addy will have a personal conversation with her about her life, her story, and what brought her here, then compose 40 to 45 minutes of original piano music in real time, created entirely for her. She doesn’t just hear the music. Lying beneath a grand piano, she feels it move through her body.

The Recording. Within one to three days, she will receive a professionally produced digital recording of her compositions, delivered by download link so it travels with her wherever she goes. This music exists nowhere else, composed once, for her alone.

The Enhancements. Her in-person session includes a curated selection of fine wines, champagne, or artisan teas, handcrafted chocolates from a local award-winning chocolatier, optional aromatherapy, and for Mother’s Day sessions, a curated seasonal floral arrangement prepared for her arrival.
Your gift certificate is delivered digitally to your inbox within 24 hours. She schedules her session at a time that suits her. No scheduling pressure on you, and no expiry rush on her.

Experience the profound connection between music and emotion.

Sessions are 75 to 90 minutes in duration and include a 15-minute pre-session conversation, a 40 to 45-minute session under the piano, and a 15 to 30-minute completion conversation. However, allow 2 hours for your session. Sometimes conversations last longer.

    BEFORE YOU GIVE

    Your Questions Answered

Absolutely. This is how most Mother’s Day bookings work. You purchase a digital gift certificate, which is delivered to your email within 24 hours. She receives it from you and schedules her own session at a time that suits her. No scheduling required from you. Gift certificates are valid for twelve months.

Digital gift certificates are delivered to your inbox within 24 hours of purchase. You can then forward it directly to her, print it, or present it however feels right.

Yes. The Couples Experience accommodates two guests beneath the piano together. This is a meaningful option for her partner to join her, or for two people who share a bond they’d like to hear expressed in music. The Couples Experience is $1,000 and includes all the same enhancements.

A spa experience is generalised relaxation. A concert is someone else’s music. Under the Piano is a private, one-on-one session where Craig composes music live, entirely from her story. She is not a spectator. She is the subject. The music that results is hers alone, and she receives a professional recording to keep.

The studio is in Vancouver’s West End, a leafy, walkable neighbourhood near English Bay, with views of the bay from the studio itself. The seawall is a five-minute walk from the front door, and guests often enjoy a stroll before or after their session. The exact address and arrival details are provided upon confirmation of your reservation.

Sessions can be rescheduled with 24 hours’ notice at no charge. Gift certificates are valid for twelve months and are fully transferable. Please refer to the Refund & Exchange Policy page for full details.

Yes. Craig works with concierges, travel advisors, and hotel partners to arrange sessions for their clients. Visit the Partner Registration page or email Craig directly to discuss how to incorporate Under the Piano into your recommendations.

A sound bath typically uses pre-set instruments and repetitive patterns. It may evoke feelings, but the instruments themselves do not express emotion. Under the Piano is fundamentally different: Craig composes original music from your story in real time, and the compositions move through a wide emotional range, from tenderness to exhilaration, stillness to release. It is a private, one-on-one encounter with a composer, not a passive ambient experience. No two sessions are ever alike.

You are visiting a composer’s private, working studio, not a hotel spa or commercial venue. The space is warm, immaculate, and thoughtfully arranged for your comfort. It is also authentically lived-in: this is where Craig creates, where the piano lives, and where over 3,500 compositions have been born since 2009. Guests consistently describe the setting as welcoming, intimate, and exactly right for the experience.

Not at all. You do not need to know anything about music, and you choose how much to share. Some guests talk at length about their lives; others simply say how they are feeling in the moment. The music responds to whatever you offer, even comfortable silence.

Yes. The studio is on the sixth floor, accessible by elevator. You recline on a cushioned memory-foam mat at floor level, and alternative seating is available if needed. Craig prioritizes comfort and dignity for every guest, including those navigating pregnancy or mobility considerations.

    QUESTIONS BEFORE YOU GIVE?

    Craig Responds Personally.

Whether you’d like help choosing the right option, want to add a personal note for her session, or simply want to know if this is the right fit — reach out. Every message is read and answered by Craig himself.
