OVER 3,500 COMPOSITIONS CREATED

Your Story, Composed into Music.

In a private studio in Vancouver’s West End, composer Craig Addy creates a live, bespoke soundscape inspired by your story. Rest beneath a grand piano and feel the music’s resonance in a way you’ve never felt before.

For the discerning visitor who has seen the mountains, walked the seawall, and is ready for something that reaches deeper.

AS SEEN IN

A RARE VANCOUVER EXPERIENCE

Beyond the Guidebook
Beyond the Itinerary

You’ve seen the mountains and walked the seawall.

Now, step beyond the itinerary into a world of pure sound. A composer’s private studio in Vancouver’s creative quarter, just minutes from the seawall and a short ride from Canada Place, the Fairmont, and Sutton Place Hotel.

This is not a concert. Not a spa. It is an intimate, artist-led encounter with sound, composed entirely for you, in the moment, from your own story.

You are not arriving at a commercial venue. You are stepping into a working artist’s world: the piano where the music is born, the studio where thousands of compositions have been created since 2009, and a space that is warm, immaculate, and authentically lived-in. The luxury here is not marble and linen.

It is presence, craft, and undivided attention.

Whether you are arriving between destinations, marking an anniversary far from home, or simply longing for an experience that no guidebook can offer, this is where your Vancouver story becomes music.

YOUR PRIVATE SESSION

What to Expect

Allow approximately 90 minutes. There is no rush.

1

The Arrival - Threshold

Your session begins the moment you step through the door. Warm lighting, a welcoming space, and the unhurried feeling that time here belongs entirely to you. Leave the pace of the city at the door.

2

The Conversation - Consultation

A relaxed, personal exchange that shapes the music to come. Share as much or as little as you wish — stories, memories, intentions, or simply how you are feeling in this moment. Craig listens not for details, but for essence.

3

The Composition - Immersion

For approximately 40 minutes, you recline beneath a 6’4″ Charles R. Walter cherrywood grand piano on a plush memory-foam mat while Craig composes five to seven original pieces drawn entirely from what you have shared. This is not a playlist or a rehearsed performance. Each composition is created once, for you alone. You feel the music as much as you hear it — the resonance of the instrument moving through the body.

4

The Memento - Your Recording

Within one to three days, you will receive a professionally produced digital recording of the music composed for you — your own personal soundscape, delivered wherever you are in the world. Many guests tell Craig these recordings become a touchstone, a way to return to that stillness long after leaving Vancouver.

The Enhancements

Fine Beverages

Champagne, local wines, or artisan teas. Chosen to suit the occasion, from celebratory to contemplative.

Artisan Chocolates

Handcrafted chocolates from an award-winning local chocolatier. A small indulgence that deepens the sensory richness of the moment.

Optional Aromatherapy

A curated selection of soothing fragrances. If you have sensitivities, simply let Craig know in advance.

Imagine a custom piano concert just for you. We will have a conversation about your current life experiences, intentions, dreams, and memories. I will then compose 40 to 45 minutes of piano music on the spot to re-create the essence of you and what you share as you lie under my piano.

    Your online experience includes:

    • Soulful Piano Serenades: A culmination of decades of mastery and expertise, you’ll be treated to 40 to 45 minutes of bespoke musical compositions, meticulously crafted to resonate with the essence of your shared stories. This isn’t just music; it’s a deeply personalized musical portrait that transcends the ordinary.

The lasting value of these compositions, preserved for your enjoyment, is a treasure that far exceeds the cost of the session. Choose from a CD, downloadable MP3, or a private online playlist, ensuring your musical memories are always within reach.

    Your in-person experience also includes:

    • Savour & Celebrate: Elevate your experience with a choice of refreshments tailored to your mood. Whether you’re toasting with Champagne or wine, or seeking solace with a selection of fine artisan teas, each sip is designed to enhance the ambiance and add warmth to your session.
    • Award-Winning Chocolates: Indulge in boutique chocolates from a local award-winning chocolatier, a sweet accompaniment to your musical journey.
    • Optional Aromatherapy: Engage another sense with the option of aromatherapy. Choose from a selection of soothing fragrances, or opt out if you have sensitivities.

Experience the profound connection between music and emotion.

Sessions are 75 to 90 minutes in duration and include a 15-minute pre-session conversation, a 40 to 45-minute session under the piano, and a 15 to 30-minute completion conversation. However, allow 2 hours for your session. Sometimes conversations last longer.

    Details & Assurance

It’s one of the most meaningful Vancouver shore excursions available for cruise passengers. The studio is approximately 15 minutes from Canada Place and 10 minutes from most downtown hotels, including Sutton Place and the Fairmont properties. Reserve it as a pre-cruise or post-cruise ritual, between excursions, or before dinner. The full visit takes about 90 minutes and fits naturally into almost any Vancouver travel schedule.

Most Vancouver experiences are about seeing. This one is about feeling. It’s a private, artist-led encounter that can’t be replicated anywhere else — no tour group, no agenda, just you and live music composed from your story.

A sound bath typically uses pre-set instruments and repetitive patterns. It may evoke feelings, but the instruments themselves do not express emotion. Under the Piano is fundamentally different: Craig composes original music from your story in real time, and the compositions move through a wide emotional range, from tenderness to exhilaration, stillness to release. It is a private, one-on-one encounter with a composer, not a passive ambient experience. No two sessions are ever alike.

You are visiting a composer’s private, working studio, not a hotel spa or commercial venue. The space is warm, immaculate, and thoughtfully arranged for your comfort. It is also authentically lived-in: this is where Craig creates, where the piano lives, and where over 3,500 compositions have been born since 2009. Guests consistently describe the setting as welcoming, intimate, and exactly right for the experience.

The studio is in Vancouver’s West End, a leafy, walkable neighbourhood near English Bay, with views of the bay from the studio itself. The seawall is a five-minute walk from the front door, and guests often enjoy a stroll before or after their session. The exact address and arrival details are provided upon confirmation of your reservation.

Not at all. You do not need to know anything about music, and you choose how much to share. Some guests talk at length about their lives; others simply say how they are feeling in the moment. The music responds to whatever you offer, even comfortable silence.

Yes. The studio is on the sixth floor, accessible by elevator. You recline on a cushioned memory-foam mat at floor level, and alternative seating is available if needed. Craig prioritizes comfort and dignity for every guest, including those navigating pregnancy or mobility considerations.

Craig understands the unpredictability of travel. Sessions can be rescheduled, cancelled, or transferred to another person with 24 hours’ notice for a full refund. Less than 24 hours or a no-show incurs a $150 fee. For cruise passengers and business travelers with tight schedules, Craig is flexible and communicative.

Absolutely. Digital gift certificates are available. Many partners and loved ones reserve this as an anniversary, birthday, or “just because” gift, often for someone who would never reserve it for themselves. Gift recipients schedule their own session at a time that suits their itinerary.

    QUESTIONS BEFORE YOU RESERVE?
